Labor Exploitation
Labor Exploitation refers to the unfair treatment of workers, where their labor is undervalued or taken advantage of for the benefit of others, often for profit. This exploitation can manifest through low wages, poor working conditions, excessive hours, lack of job security, and denial of rights or benefits. Labor exploitation is common in industries where workers have limited power or representation, and is often linked to systemic inequalities such as class, race, and gender discrimination. From a sociological perspective, labor exploitation is key to understanding the dynamics of capitalism, where profits are maximized at the expense of laborers. Marxist theory, for example, views exploitation as an inherent feature of capitalist economies, driving class conflict. Studying labor exploitation helps identify power imbalances, advocate for workers’ rights, and promote more equitable labor practices.
