Autoethnography
Autoethnography is a qualitative research method in which the researcher uses self-reflection and personal experiences to explore cultural, social, or political phenomena. This method blends autobiography and ethnography, allowing researchers to analyze how their lived experiences intersect with broader societal structures and cultural norms. Autoethnography emphasizes storytelling, subjectivity, and the researcher’s positionality within the research process. Sociologists and anthropologists use this method to study marginalized perspectives, identity formation, and the impact of systemic inequalities. It challenges traditional notions of objectivity by highlighting the interconnectedness of the personal and the social.
