Agrarian Society

Agrarian Society refers to a community or civilization primarily based on agriculture as its main economic activity. In such societies, most individuals are involved in farming, livestock management, or other agrarian practices, and the social structure is often organized around land ownership and rural living. Agrarian societies typically feature a hierarchical structure, with landowners holding significant power and influence over laborers and peasants. These societies played a foundational role in human history, preceding industrialization and modern economies. Sociologists study agrarian societies to understand the relationship between economic systems, social hierarchies, and cultural practices in pre-industrial and developing regions.
